Lord Street – Reid Highway Intersection Upgrade Completed – June 2014

An important intersection upgrade at the junction of Reid Highway and Lord Street in West Swan has been completed. At the opening, Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the highway carries more than 25400 vehicle per day through the Lord Street intersection, and more than 11 per cent of these are heavy vehicles.

In the five years to 2012, there were 169 crashes at the intersection.

“This upgrade will significantly improve the performance of the local road network in this rapidly growing area, and address safety issues association with increased traffic,” said Mr Nalder.

The intersection upgrade has been funded with a contribution of $8million from the State Government’s Road Trauma Trust Account which receives 100% of speed camera revenue in the State.
